Advance Employment is a service which supports unemployed disabled people to find paid work.
The project is delivered in partnership with Darlington Borough Council and is based on the concept of Supported Employment. Supported Employment is about providing individualised support to people who may often be disadvantaged in securing a job. The support could include help to apply for jobs, complete application forms or it could be a Job Coach going with someone when they start work to help them settle into the role until they are fully trained and confident of their own abilities. The Job Coach can also provide support to the employer.
We can also act as a recruitment resource to employers. Clients access the project with a wide range of skills and experience and we will focus on matching individuals to the right job.
Advance+
Advance + is an element of Advance Employment and is a work preparation programme which aims to support individuals to develop the skills they need to find and maintain paid employment.
The programme has been designed to assist individuals with a learning disability by looking at the skills required in the workplace. Particular emphasis is focused on confidence building and communication and employability skills.
The programme takes individuals through a series of activities and assignments which will help towards preparation for employment.
Advance + is an accredited programme; it has been approved by Open College Network North East Region (OCNNER).
Advance is funded through Darlington Borough Council and Morrison Trust.
